Who is eligible to vote?

To be eligible to vote at a town meeting, a person must be registered with the county election board at an address located within the municipality.

Before being seated in the registered voter section, each voter must sign his or her name in the poll book. The poll book signature constitutes a sworn affidavit that the person is eligible to vote in the election.

Oath of the voter

Each of the undersigned states, affirms, and certifies that he or she is registered with the county election board at an address located within the geographical boundaries of the municipality named on the front of the poll book.

Who can be a candidate?

A candidate must be a registered voter at an address within the municipality for at least six months prior to the election. The candidate must then swear an oath to that effect.

Only qualified registered voters who are actually present at the town meeting are eligible for nomination. A qualified registered voter who is not present may be nominated if he or she has:
